The Story of Haghighii Family

The remarkable story of this wonderful family started in 1891 when Mahdi Khan Safdarzadeh Haghighi was born. In the family, he was like a miracle; he began to study Persian arts with some of the most renowned teachers of the time. When Mahdi Khan was only 12 years old, he went to a carpet workshop to learn all the principles of Persian rug ) from designing to dyeing and weaving) with the help of masters Abdolsamad Eslimi, Abdolmatlab, and Abdolrahim Shoureshi, some of the best producers and designers of Persian rugs. Because of his incredible talent, many traders got to know him, which caused him to grow this industry in Isfahan and teach it from a very young age.v

Gradually, he established a small, centrally organized carpet workshop and became the master of carpet weaving when he was only 18 years old. He loved this unique Persian art industry so much that he also passed on his knowledge to his sons. Mahdi Khan progressed the art of Persian carpets in Isfahan till the end of his life; he also established a special carpet workshop for the Kalimi minority living there and taught many people to weave carpets.

. After the death of Mahdi Khan, his sons continued their father's mysterious passion for and love of Persian rugs. Gholamali Safdarzadeh Haghighi was one of his sons and taught carpet weaving at the fine arts school in Isfahan under the management of Isa Bahadori. He used great techniques to weave some of Isa Bahadori's famous works.

Yadollah Safdarzadeh Haghighi was another son of Mahdi Khan who left his studies in law and became a part of this brilliant family job. He wasn't only passionate about the high values of weaving but also about design and the harmony of colors. ‌‌He came up with many wonderful ideas and worked with famous painters to help his imagination become unique rug designs.
Feyzollah Haghighi was the creative and active son who continued their family's heritage till the end of his life and also bequeathed this gift to his children. He studied Persian arts and miniature in the fine art school in Isfahan with great masters like Rostam Shirazi and Isa Bahadori and learned about Persian rugs from his father. Feyzollah Haghighi was appointed to an important position in Iran's heritage foundation and began restoring monumental historical paintings for many years. He mixed the mysterious beauty in Persian architecture with the design of Persian rugs and created unique artworks with the assistance of Norouz Hafizi and Rostam Shirazi.
Nasrollah Haghighi is Mahdi Khan's only child who is now in charge of their workshops. He still keeps their family names up in this industry, producing the best kinds of Persian carpets and impressing his brothers' and father's creativity. In addition, Mahdi Khan's grandchildren continue to value their fathers' and grandfathers' legacies. This family is one of the most influential families not only in Isfahan but also in the whole country because of their extensive efforts to revive the fascinating art of Persian carpets.
