Synthetic carpets are made from plastic fibers that have been processed and turned into yarn. The manufacturing process of these carpets is much faster than with woo. Persian synthetic rugs are machine-made from polymeric fibers, which give them excellent resistance to stains, fading, and dirt. They have high resistance and are anti-allergic. These types of carpets are easy to clean using vacuum cleaners and commercial cleaning methods. While handmade rugs woven with natural fibers can last more than 50 years, these machine-made synthetic fibers have an average age of 20 years. However, they are cheaper and can also be used for outdoor spaces.
The top contenders are polypropylene and nylon, both beneficial in carpets and flawless in performance. Acrylic, polyester, bamboo, and modal silk are other synthetic fibers used for these carpets.
