About Touraj Zhuleh

Touraj Zhuleh is a researcher, author, and educator of handwoven carpets in Iran. He was born in Tehran on the 20th of Shahrivar, 1347 (September 11, 1968). Since 1368 (1989), he has initiated continuous studies and activities in various fields of handwoven carpets. His work portfolio includes research, writing, teaching, and handwoven carpet production, along with collaboration with relevant organisations and centres such as the Iran Carpet Company, the Handwoven Carpet Research Centre, the National Carpet Centre of Iran, and serving as the editor-in-chief of the Iranian Carpet Quarterly.

The result of Touraj Zhuleh's research is a book on Iranian carpets, Carpet Recognition: Some Theoretical Foundations and Intellectual Infrastructure, and a page from a Khorasan carpet. Touraj Zhuleh completed a two-year course in carpet at the Art University Complex. In 1374, he published The Flaws of Carpet. In 1375, he published a page from a Khorasan carpet; in 1378, he also published designs of carpets from Iran and around the world. In 1384, in collaboration with Dr. Ali Hassouri, he published the third volume of the book "Understanding Samples of Iranian Carpets." In executive and research activities, Touraj Zhuleh, the professor, has numerous honors and responsibilities.

-Reviewing articles in various journals (such as Goljaam, Kimiaye Honar, Bagh Nazar, etc.)
-Diploma in Economics: Ranking first in the first two-year course of carpet at the university level in Iran.
-Membership in the panel of experts on cultural and artistic heritage at the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.
-Membership in the academic faculty and lecturing at the Fourth Scientific Conference of Iranian Carpet Students and Graduates.
-Invitation and presentation of a paper at the International Carpet Conference in London (on the occasion of the fortieth anniversary of the publication of the HALI magazine).

The first chapter of the book "Carpet Recognition" is dedicated to the necessity of composing a book and the memoirs of the author regarding the valuable recommendations of the esteemed psychologist Khalil Doroodchi, along with a brief introduction to other discussions. After concluding this topic, the second and third chapters, which are related to each other, delve into the history of carpet science, its founders, and pioneers, followed by an introduction to the concept of carpet stylistics. Touraj Zhule also discusses its connection with the science of carpeting, the influential factors in the formation of carpet styles, and introduces three urban, rural, and tribal styles.
