Persian carpets are considered the best types of oriental rugs. They have many styles and types, woven in many different regions by various tribes in Iran. Therefore, Persian rugs are woven with different materials depending on the area to which they belong. Before the arrival of the machine-made carpet industry in Iran, people wove Persian rugs with natural fibers, categorized into two groups: cellulose and protein fibers, mainly wool, cotton, camel, and goat hair. Today, many machine-made carpets are also produced in Persian rug styles, all woven with synthetic fibers such as acrylic, polyester, and polypropylene.
Today, every handmade carpet is produced from excellent natural fibers, but many machine-made rugs are made from synthetic materials. Both kinds of fibers satisfy various preferences and offer particular advantages!
