Historical documents indicate that the construction of this market was initiated by Suleiman Khan Ardalan, the governor of Kurdistan during the Safavid era, in the year 1046 AH (Islamic calendar). During that period, Sanandaj (known also as Senna) functioned as the capital of the Ardalan dynasty, enjoying prosperity and renown.
