Most buildings, especially mosques, schools, and grand bazaars, have unique circular roofs, called "Gonbads," or domes, mostly 30–35 meters above the ground. These kinds of roofs have two inner and outer parts. Semicircular, semi-elliptical, pointed, or saucer-shaped inner shells are prevalent. From the base, every 25 to 30 degrees, the outer surface of a Persian dome thins out. The form of the outer shell determines whether it is semicircular, semi-elliptical, pointy, conical, or swollen.
